Sebastian Inlet Report

12-03-13 TUESDAY: BLACK DRUM, REDS, SNOOK, FLOUNDER, SHEEPSHEAD, BLUES, POMPANO AND SPANISH MACKEREL

We have a beautiful morning at the inlet. Winds are blowing out of the South-Southwest at 4 mph and the water is calm. The water is cleaning up and looking good according to SISP Ranger Ed Perry who sent in our first photo today.

We've seen some huge Reds, oversized Snook, large and mid-sized Black Drum, Blues, Spanish Mackerel, Pompano, Sheepshead and Flounder.

Our first photo is courtesy of SISP Ranger Ed Perry who took the photo of Billy Ludlow, who lives in Melbourne Beach. Billy landed this big doormat on Monday. This photo should be enough to get our Flounder fishermen worked up! The water temperature continues to drop and that will bring in the Flounder.
Deron Davis of Orlando sent in our next two photos. Deron and his uncle, Larry Johnson fished and got into some large Black Drum on the north side. Our second photo features Deron with a big Black Drum with the Tide Pool in the background.

Photo three is of Larry Johnson of Orlando with another big Black Drum landed.

Inlet regular Chuck Fischer of Satellite Beach fished the north jetty yesterday morning and landed the 32" Black Drum in our fourth photo, along with another that was 22" and a large Sheepshead, all on dead shrimp.
Our last photo today features Robert Pumarada of Orlando who fished the north jetty and landed quite a few Jacks and Spanish Mackerel.

Inshore the snook bite has been ok around the bridges on live bait and drifting the inlet pigfish and pinfish have  been the bait of choice. There has been reports of some trout and red up to the north around Queens cove on the outgoing tide. The pompano fishing should start getting good along the beaches with this cool weather.

Stuart
Inshore there has been plenty of juvenile snook caught near blind creek, and the trout bite has been consistent with at few Redfish near middle cove and little mud creek.

12-02-13 MONDAY: REDS, BLUES, BLACK DRUM, SPANISH MACKEREL, POMPANO AND JACKS

Over the weekend, we had good activity even with the rain and high winds. Oversized and slot Redfish were biting well, along with large Black Drum, Blues, Spanish Mackerel, Pompano and Jacks. Yesterday it rained practically all day, but many of you waterproof anglers got out and landed some nice fish!

Our first photo Luis Suarez landed the very nice Redfish, Luis was using live shrimp to land this 27" slot Red. Way to go Luis!
Please remember to support your C/R species with two hands. Hold the fish horizontally to photograph and get it back in the water as soon as possible!

From Capt Joe Ward @ Bait Shack - FT Pierce

This is the time of year that things start to change. We will start seeing windy conditions and cold water temps from the fronts that will be moving into our area. As the water temps drop you will start looking for the trout to be in the deeper cuts and drop offs at places like Pete Stone Creek, Harbor Branch and Round Island.
Fish a live shrimp, finger mullet or a small pinfish very slowly. The Redfish will also be in deeper water early in the day and then up on the flats as the sun warms the water. Try a live shrimp, piece of cut ladyfish or a small crab for these fish and try the area up around Jack Island and Queen's Cove. The snook fishing should be good around the local bridges and in the Ft. Pierce Inlet and try both live and artificial baits. Try a mullet, white baits or a Flair Hawk and fish them on the bottom. Around the Ft. Pierce Inlet look for Spanish mackerel, bluefish and plenty of jacks and they will be taking anything shinny. When conditions are good enough to surf fish try for pompano and use a sand flea, clam strips or small shrimp. Remember that snook season closes on December 15th.

From Whites Tackle - Ft Pierce / Stuart

The inshore fishing has been better with larger trout to the south along the west bank towards the tips of the docks. There also have been Redfish mixed in around the docks. The snook fishing has been getting better in the night time with some more fish getting caught around the bridges on plugs and feathers.
