Sebastian Inlet

Scott Ward of Indialantic sent this photo today. Scott was fishing from the south side T-Dock on December 13th. Using a heavily weighted egg-sinker line and a shrimp baited hook, he cast toward the inlet and came up with this 13" Bonefish. Scott reported that 12 years ago, he pulled a beach seine in the Indian River Lagoon and came up with two Bonefish fry, about 2.5" each. We always assumed Bonefish were a Florida Keys fish. After checking with resident expert SISP Ranger Ed Perry, they are not very common here. Ed has fished the inlet all his life and reported near the channel in the river, west of the inlet, he has landed some using shrimp or jigs used for Pompano. He has landed a few from the south catwalk as well, using shrimp. Not many, less than 10 and never any larger than the one Scott landed. Interesting catch.
