Sebastian Inlet Report

11-07-14 FRIDAY: SPANISH MACKEREL, SHEEPSHEAD, BLACK DRUM, JACKS, SNOOK, ATLANTIC SPADE AND FLOUNDER

We have a gorgeous fall morning at the inlet. Winds are blowing out of the North-Northwest at 11 mph, gusting to 15 and there is a moderate chop on the water. It's a perfect morning and we have a fantastic day predicted, high of 75 and sunny, just the way we like it! The NOAA forecast is calling for 3 - 4' seas this weekend and potential rain on Sunday; they are calling for calm conditions on the intracoastal.

Tommy Turowski at the Sebastian Inlet Bait and Tackle Shop reported a nice bite this morning. Spanish Mackerel are hitting Gotcha lures and big Jacks are hitting just about anything put in front of them. Black Drum, Sheepshead, Atlantic Spadefish, Snook and Flounder have all been making appearances. The current bait of choice is shrimp as the finger mullet are thinning out significantly.

Our first photo today features
Leonard Paco Moreno of Palm Bay who was fishing the north jetty when he hooked up with this huge C/R Red using finger mullet.
Photo two is of Joe Lee of Titusville who was fishing the north jetty. Many were fishing for Mackerel, but Joe was free lining a greenie on an 8' light action rod, 5000 series spinning reel, 30 lb. braid, 40 lb. fluorocarbon leader and a 5/0 circle hook when he hooked up with this big C/R Redfish. That's all you need to land a big Red like this one when you're fishing from the north jetty.
Photo three is of inlet regular Chuck Fischer of Satellite Beach. Chuck landed this nice 17.5" Mutton Snapper on the north jetty. Chuck decided to head down early and reported a lot of big Jacks were keeping the north jetty anglers busy. Jose Dore of Palm Bay landed a 15" Mangrove Snapper that morning as well.
Steve Bozzuto of Vero Beach landed this big, 36" C/R Red  Steve was using live shrimp at the end of the outgoing tide when this big boy hit.
