Sebastian Inlet Report

05-05-15 TUESDAY: BLUSTERY CONDITIONS

We have a blustery morning at the inlet and we don't expect conditions to improve much. Winds are blowing out of the East at 17 mph, gusting to 20 and the water is choppy. There is a good chance of rain throughout the day today.

We received an update from Kurush Akbari of Palm Bay who reported that a few nights ago he landed some nice Black Drum from the north jetty. He has landed a few nice Reds fishing the mangroves during the day near the inlet. Kurush is not only an avid inlet angler he is also the mate for Capt. Rick Marchetti of Surfrider Fishing Charters. They took a party out on Sunday to fish the opening weekend of grouper season but couldn't move around much due to the rough conditions. Kurush said the grouper bite has hot! Good sized Mutton Snapper, Gag Grouper, Dolphin and Cobia have all been active offshore. Sunday they were using cut grunts in 90' of water and landed a huge Gag Grouper, several large Mutton Snapper and a big Cobia. Thanks for the update and great photos Kurush!

Photo one features A.J. John with a big Gag Grouper he landed Sunday. Great catch!
