11-02-12 FRIDAY: YESTERDAY WAS THE DAY FOR ANGLERS AT THE INLET!!!
Good morning, Everyone and TGIF!!!
After talking with Tommy at the Inlet Bait & Tackle Shop this morning to get an update, the headline on our homepage was easy to come up with! Yes, Anglers, the weather has been breathtaking at the Inlet and surely has some effect on the fabulous fishing from yesterday. Anglers snagged everything from Spanish Mackerel, Snook, Reds and Jacks to Drum and Bluefish! An Angler's Dream come true!
Today's featured photo is of Mike Podzielinski with a 31" Snook on mullet.
Weather is predicted for the weekend to be nice, so gather up your friends and family for some serious fishing! We promise to feature many more pictures later next week; in the meantime, please bring your cameras and don't hesitate to send us your photos and stories. Be safe everyone!

From Whites Tackle - Ft Pierce
The inshore fishing has been good with trout and redfish to the south of the power lines with a few smaller snook mixed in. The snook fishing in the inlet has been a bit tough with the dirty water but there are some fish being caught on plugs on the jetty and in the inlet. There also has been tarpon in the mouth of the inlet and the surrounding beaches.

From Capt. Charlie @ Fishing Center - Ft Pierce
It looks like things are finally getting back to normal again. That Sandy was certainly one bad storm. Keep those up north in your mind as they begin the recovery from the devastation left behind. We appear to be very fortunate with what Sandy did to us on here way up there. Let's hope this is the last one for this year! The water is high, dirty and cooled off. It will take a while to get back to a normal pattern, but it appears that we could have a short fall season.
I am heading out tomorrow after catching up on things around the house while the winds kept blowing. If you plan on getting back out, expect to move around a bit to find a bite. I plan on hitting the mangroves and areas that were even a little protected from some of the winds. It will be hard to find clean water, but keep your eyes open for it. Water temperature will play a part in where to fish this week. Where you find warmer water, you should find some fish. If the water is cold, fish in deeper water on the flats. Watch for bait schools around the river and fish the edges of them. Fish still have to eat and it's always a good idea to fish the bait.
Top water in the mornings or evenings are a great way to find fish. Try your usual fishing spots, but be prepared to check out other areas if you can't find a bite. Switch to DOA shrimp (glow will be a great color), CAL shad tails or jerk baits and try the Deadly Combo as well. Making noise can sometimes help the fish find you! I will be using lighter colors for now, but change colors around if you aren't having any luck. It's gonna be a challenge for a few days, but things will get back to normal soon.
The pompano should be arriving anytime. I have seen some out on the river and it should pick up soon. Look for trout in three to five feet of water or around drop offs in the river. Sand bars are excellent areas to fish for trout. Redfish can be found around the mangroves most days. Check around docks for both redfish and snook this month.
If you are new to inshore fishing around the area or just want more information on fishing in general, I have two great inshore maps that are full of information and tips for fishing the river. Home Port Charts makes great maps that are also waterproof and easy to stow in the boat. They also have great offshore maps for most areas, too. You can find them at most tackle shops or check out www.homeportcharts.com. From Native Tackle - Sebastian
INSHORE
Reds and trout using live shrimp, mullet and/or a D.O.A. shad or jerk . The trout and reds have been biting around the spoil islands, docks and grass flats. There is also a good bite with the redsback in the Sebastian river as well. Fish the docks and bridges for sheepshead. With the sheepshead, the occasional flounder around the docks and the flats. Use mud minnows or one of our "flounder pounders" for best results.
The pompano have been trickling in and some inshore anglers have been having some luck around the grass flats near the inlet and bridges. Use doc's goofy jigs, clams and/or sand fleas.
INLET
Redfish, snook, flounder, jacks, blue fish, spanish mackerel and ladyfish have been the bite of the week. Reds and snook, use pinfish, or select shrimp. The flounder will always bite a mud minnow or something that looks like a mud minnow. If you are an artificial angler, come check out our "flounder pounders". Jacks will hit just about anything. The blues and the lady fish have been hitting on live shrimp or mullet. The pompano bite has been kicking up on the South side on clams, doc's goofy jigs and sand fleas.
SURF
Whiting and pompano with the occasional flounder mixed in.

11-01-12 THURSDAY: JACKS, LADYFISH, BLUES, BLACK DRUM, REDS, SEA TROUT AND SNOOK
We have a gorgeous morning at the inlet. Winds are blowing out of the West-Southwest at 7 mph and gusting to 10. There is a moderate chop on the water.
Mike Ricciardi of Vero Beach fished the north jetty yesterday reported that the Jacks, Ladyfish and Blues continue to massacre the finger mullet around the north jetty. It was difficult getting any type of bait in the water without hooking up with one of them. The bait they found the least appetizing was stinky, dead shrimp but fortunately, the Black Drum loved them and Mike landed two at 17" and 26". Tony Swiderski of Sebastian landed two Black Drum at 22" and 28". Diane Buyce of Melbourne landed one nice Black Drum and lost a really big one. Several Reds were landed as well, but most were under the slot. for the It's good to see the Black Drum moving in!
We received an update from Tom Turowski of the Inlet Bait and Tackle Shop who said he fished from the north beach last night after work and was catching smaller Spotted Sea Trout and another guy fishing close to him landed a couple of Pompano, until the Ladyfish moved in and took over!
Our first two photos today are courtesy of Mike Ricciardi of Vero Beach. Mike is featured with the 26" Black Drum.
Photo two features Tony Swiderski of Sebastian with a 28" Black Drum he landed yesterday using dead, stinky, shrimp.
Our third photo features Ray Antonio who landed his 39" C/R Redfish a couple of weeks ago, off the north jetty using cut mullet. Ray reported that this big Red put up a great fight!
