From Whites Tackle - Ft Pierce
The inshore fishing was good with some nice trout south around Bear point to the power lines on soft baits and topwater. The snook fishing has been ok at the jetty on the outgoing tide on jigs and live bait. The pompano fishing has been ok on the beach south around the power plant sand fleas and clams are the bait of choice.

Sebastian Inlet Report

03-15-13 PRETTY SLOW BITE AT THE INLET....
It's another chilly morning out on the jetties. Winds are blowing out of the North-Northwest at 10 mph and gusting to 15. There is a moderate chop on the water.
Mike fished the north jetty yesterday morning and reported awful conditions on the north jetty. Strong currents, major sized waves breaking over the rails and big wind chill factors made fishing difficult. Mike arrived around 7:45 a.m. and left around 10:00. Despite the conditions he lucked out with two good sized Sheepshead caught together on a double hook rig using sand fleas. Mike thought he had a big Drum on the line, because it was so heavy. When he realized it was two Sheepshead, he didn't even wait for the drop net, he just yanked them up over the rails.
Second photo is of Spiro Stathopoulos of Malabar who was really lucky with a beautiful 32" Snook he landed while free-lining live shrimp. Spiro landed this beauty about 15 minutes after his arrival. !
The Third photo is of Don Dominey a/k/ "The Redfish Wrangler", with a one of five Jacks he landed off the north jetty that day.

INSHORE
The sheepshead have been prominent around the docks and at the inlet. Along with the sheepshead anglers are having fun with the black drum and smallmangrove snapper. If you want to try to stay out of the wind and maybe get some good action with snook and reds, try fishing North near Honest John's. Reports oftrout, a lot on the small size and the larger ones being caught have had a good amount of worms in them. Some lady fish, tarpon and smaller snook are being caught back in the Sebastian river. It has been hit or miss with the pompanoaction! One day it's good and the next, not so much! Talked with several anglers that jig the Wabasso bridge the first day was good and the next nothing! Hit or miss! Not many people boating this past week due to the winds and it being a little colder but we are in store for some great weather this weekend and next week so the water temp will get better and the fish will be hungry!
INLET
This past week anglers are catching blues, sheepshead, black drum, reds, trout, pompano, mackerel and margate. Some anglers are having luck with snook but for the most part the snook bite has slowed up due to the water temp.
SURF
Lots of whiting, good size pompano the few that are being caught with the sharkaction in the surf, spanish mackerel, black tips and spinner sharks.

From Capt. Charlie @ Fishing Center - Ft Pierce
While spring is still on its way, March continues to roar like a lion most days for us. Every time I think we have had our last cold front....another comes our way. It can't last forever! Even with the windy days, we have continued to have good catches along the river while hanging close to the mangroves and sea walls. We have enjoyed one or two days each week without the prevailing winds chasing us. It has been fun, but can get a little choppy around the area.
Once the water temperatures warm back up after the cold fronts blow through, we have enjoyed catching redfish around the mangroves on DOA shrimp and live baits.

Water temperatures have been up and down lately. It has been in the low to mid 60's most of the time for us. We have found our redfish hanging under docks and mangroves and willing to take a DOA shrimp. Trout have been in three to five feet of water. CAL jerk baits work great on trout right now.
Try the new Airhead lures from DOA. It's gonna be a great asset this Spring on the flats. Sheepshead and black drum have been around docks and under mangroves. We have found a few pompano around the river along with bluefish. We have been fishing south of Fort Pierce most days, but the recent gusty weather has pushed us back in the mangrove islands to the north of Fort Pierce. The water on the incoming tide has been dirty the past several days from all the winds. It has been difficult to fish in the surf most days. With a forecast for nice weather this coming weekend, the water will have time to clear up and warm back up to the upper sixties. It should be a fantastic week
end on the water!
Dress in layers for a while longer. Some days you will find nearly a 40 degree change in temperatures on the water. We seem to end up with a pile of coats, sweatshirts and assorted warm clothes in the corner of the boat by noon each day. Sunscreen is essential this time of year with the wind and the sun wearing on you. It can't be much longer before it warms up to Spring weather! Have fun out there fishing.
