From Whites Tackle - Ft Pierce / Stuart

The beach continues to bring anglers many busy days bending a rod.  Trout fishing to the north around the power plant continues to be fantastic on DOA shrimp, or Baitbusters.  Snook and Tarpon fishing around the inlet, docks and bridges with feathers, live baits, or plugs have all been productive.

"PIG"

I had to show this photo from a friend of mine, Roberto Martinez Monton from Spain, who was at Sebastian while fishing Florida. The Red was caught on a Sebile Popper. Check Roberto out at

From Capt Joe Ward @ Bait Shack - FT Pierce

The inshore fishing had been steady for snook, snapper and trout. The best snook bite has been on the falling tide when fishing in the Ft. Pierce Inlet. A live bait fished on the bottom has been the way to go. Around the bridges has been okay one day and not so hot the next. Same thing - a live bait fished on the bottom. The snapper bite has been very good along the channel edges when using a small live shrimp. Some of the snapper have been up to 2 pounds. The trout bite has been good when fishing on the flats in the deeper cuts and holes. A live shrimp fished under a popping cork will get the job done. Try places like Harbor Branch and the Moorings Flats to the north and to the south try Bear Point. The trout have been up to 5 pounds.
There are plenty of Spanish mackerel, jacks and bluefish in the Ft. Pierce Inlet and in the Turning Basin. These fish will take just about anything shinny. In the surf there has been whiting, jacks, Spanish mackerel, bluefish and a snook or two.

10-16-13 REDS, SNOOK, SHEEPSHEAD, SNAPPER AND JACKS

Winds are blowing out of the Northeast at 3 mph and the water has a light chop.

We received an update from inlet regular Mike Ricciardi of Vero Beach who fished the north jetty yesterday morning and reported a beautiful day but a slow morning for Snook and Reds. Mike White of Sebastian landed a C/R Snook at 33". Five or six oversized Reds came over the rails, Tony Swiderski of Sebastian landed the only slot Red of the morning which was 24". Mike and Luis Segura of Palm Bay landed slot Reds in the early afternoon at 23" and 27". Live finger mullet produced the best results. A lot of really big Jacks were caught in the 10 - 15 lb. range along with an assortment of other species including undersized Pompano, Mutton Snapper and Sheepshead.

Our first photo today is courtesy of Oliver M. of Sebring. who landed a mixed bag of species which included a 12" Mangrove Snapper, 2 nice, fat Grunts and a 23" C/R Snook. The real excitement came when his son Kian landed the nice 12" Flounder in our first photo today. Kian also landed two more on Sunday.
Justin Maldano is featured in our second photo with a 34" C/R Snook he landed using finger mullet on the outgoing tide to land this nice Snook.

Charley Donley landed the 40 lb. C/R Red in our third photo last week off the north jetty. The Red was released unharmed after the photo.

Luis Segura of Palm Bay and Mike Ricciardi of Vero Beach are featured in our fourth photo. The men landed their slot Reds off the north jetty yesterday around noon using finger mullet.

Andrew Sampson finishes up our photos today with a juvenile Black Grouper he landed and released off the south side.

10-15-13 TUESDAY: REDS, SMALL SNOOK, SPANISH MACKEREL, BLUES, JACKS, TARPON AND SHARKS

It's a real nice morning at the inlet. A little foggy and cooler, fall is in the air! Winds are blowing out of the North-Northwest at 5 mph and gusting to 8. There is a light chop on the water. We are seeing a good variety of fish migrating in and out and passing the inlet on their way south.

We received an update from Jake Barker who fished the north beach and reported lots of bait in the water and on his first cast, landed the big Jack in our first photo today. Jake reported Tarpon everywhere, lots of cruising Sharks, Blues, Snook, Wahoo and Barracuda were busting up bait pods. Jake said you could throw out anything and get a hook up. In addition to his Jack, he put a Ladyfish on a shark rod, got a hook up and had a great fight on his hands, but his pulley rig messed up and the hook popped out. Great fight, but no shark!
Mike Ricciardi of Vero Beach fished the north jetty yesterday and reported that lots of bait continues to school around the jetty. Spanish Mackerel, Blues and Jacks are pounding on the schools of mullet, glass minnows, butterfish and greenies. There were only three or four slot Reds landed, one was Mike's at 23" and one was Tony Swiderski's at 24". There were a lot of monsters that came over the rails and returned to the water. The Mangrove Snapper bite slowed but Tony landed two that were 13" and 15" and Mike got one that was 11". A lot of undersized Snook came over the rails and Jose Dore of Palm Bay landed quite a few of those. Finger mullet was the bait of choice for Snook. Photos two - five are courtesy of Mike. Photo two is of Mike and Tony with their slot Reds they landed yesterday.
Photo three is of Mike Misserville who landed his 30" slot Snook using live shrimp.
Photo four is of Mike White of Sebastian with a 31" slot Snook he landed.
