Palm Beach Report

INSHORE
The pompano action was pretty steady all week along the beaches of the Treasure Coast. It is definitely best on the higher tide. There are whiting and croaker around, too.
A few snook have shown up in the surf, but certainly not in big numbers. There are quite a few in the inlets now, but they are mostly smaller males.
The snook fishing is heating up in the Indian River, however, especially around the bridges and the deeper docks on the west side. Anglers working the east side of the river are reporting some redfish and a few trout.
Big numbers of bluefish were caught from the beach in Jupiter this week, and there are some pompano around. Jacks are also in the mix.
Snook are slowly starting to show up, but the best bet is still targeting them in the Intracoastal Waterway or in the Jupiter Inlet.
In addition to snook, jacks and ladyfish are being caught in the Intracoastal in and around Jupiter.
Snook and jacks are also biting in the Intracoastal in central and southern Palm Beach County. Jacks are holding more in the flats, while the snook are — as you’d expect — hitting near bridges and docks (especially at night).
A few pompano and small permit have also been hooked near bridges.

FRESHWATER
The best bass fishing on Lake Okeechobee right now is along the outside edges. The water level is down to about 14 feet, and the water is really clearing up — which is a good thing.
Some decent size fish are being caught, and live shiners are definitely working better than artificial lures at this time.
Some of the hot spots this week have been East Wall, West Wall and the Shoal.
Many anglers are also targeting bluegill this time of year, and are having a lot of success.
