Sebastian Inlet Report

04-07-15 TUESDAY: BLUES, JACKS, SPANISH MACKEREL, SHEEPSHEAD, BLACK DRUM, TROUT, REDS, LOOKDOWNS, TARPON AND POMPANO

We have a beautiful morning at the inlet. Winds are blowing out of the Southeast at 12 mph, gusting to 14 and there is a moderate chop on the water. There are no NOAA advisories this morning. The forecast is calling for a mix of sun and clouds today with a chance of rain in the evening.

Blues, Jacks, Spanish Mackerel, Sheepshead, Black Drum, Trout, Reds, Snook, Pompano and Tarpon are all making appearances at the inlet which is a good sign for early spring. We expect it to get better and better when the schools of bait fish start moving in.

Our photo today is courtesy of Carl Rathje who winters in Micco and features his brother Steve, sister -in-law Darcy and his wife, Maggie Rathje. When Carl and Maggie are here in the winter months, they get out to fish at least once a week. They landed some healthy Pompano using goofy jigs. They also landed Blues and Jacks using live greenies. !

It's getting to be that time of year, get to the Park and learn how to surf fish! The Sebastian Inlet State Park will be hosting a workshop on "How to Surf Fish". The workshop will be from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 11th. Meet at the Fishing Museum on the south side of the State Park. Take a pen and notepad for taking notes. Info on rod and reel selection, rigging, baits and more!
