Sebastian Inlet Report

09-11-13 WEDNESDAY: MANGROVE SNAPPER, JACKS AND LOTS OF JELLYFISH!

We have a good breeze at the Inlet this morning. Winds are blowing out of the East-Northeast at 14 mph and gusting to 19, making the water significantly choppier than it has been. We are still dealing with enormous amounts of Moon Jellyfish in the water and they are slowing down the bite.

We received an update from Desmond of Melbourne who fished the north jetty yesterday, on the outgoing tide into the evening. Desmond reported lots of jellyfish in the water, and to make matters worse, seaweed was abundant as well. The bite was very slow but occasionally schools of Jacks would pass by the end and a few people were hooking up using live finger mullet. Most of the Jacks were in the 1 - 2 lb. range. A few nice sized Mangrove Snapper were landed on live shrimp. There weren't any Snook or Reds landed while Desmond there, thanks for the update!

Our first photo today features Katy Smithson, who toke advantage of the Mangrove Snapper bite on the flats, north of the inlet. Katy landed several nice Snappers, including the 12" the photo.
