From Billy Bones Bait & Tackle - Port St Lucie

There has been a lot going on with the fishing too I wanted to mention the dumping at the St Lucie Locks has stopped but the c-23 Spillway is open I drove  by there The other morning and noticed a bunch of fisherman there. We have been fishing that area and have caught Tarpon , Snook and even Largemouth Bass at the c-23 spillway Doa Terroreyez have done well for us but swim baits and Shiners are also good. I hear there has been a good bite on Specks and we are now again carrying minnows at both locations.
In the river there has been a good Snook bite at the bridges and they have been caught on Jigs and Lures but the "Jig Bite " is hot right now due to the cold snap .. The Trout have been biting well and the best area to fish for them is north of Jensen Causeway. Jayson Arman has caught a bunch and his customers have caught some larger ones.  I have been fishing the river over the past 2 weeks and there has been a lot of bait available to catch with a cast net and there are a lot of fish willing to eat them . A week ago I had one of the largest Snook I have ever had seen on the south side of the inlet on a live ladyfish. There has also been notably a lot of jacks ( some large ones too) in the river they were all over yesterday too there has been a few Lane Snapper showing up in our catch  along with Pompano they have started to show . The fishing has been improving over all with the cold snap . There has been a lot of Spanish Macks being caught and we have caught them too and the dang Ribbonfish are eating a lot of the  live baits.
