From Capt. Joe Ward @ The Bait Shack - Ft Pierce

INSHORE - There is a lot of trout action on the flats to the north of the North Bridge.  Try a big live shrimp under a popping cork or free lining a live pilchard.  Two to four feet of water seems to be the magic number.  Look for the redfish around the docks along Indian River Drive both to the north and south.  A soft plastic bait or a gold spoon will be hard to beat and the best live bait would be a shrimp.  The catch and release snook action remains good around the Ft. Pierce Inlet.  A live shrimp or a white bait will work for the snook.  Remember that the season opens on February 1st.  The bottom fishing around the Ft. Pierce Inlet and both bridges has been good for sheepshead, black drum, bluefish, snapper and a lot of jacks and catfish.  They have been feeding on shrimp, squid and cut baits.
