Sebastian Inlet Report

09-16-14 TUESDAY: SNOOK, TARPON, JACKS, BLUES, BLUE RUNNERS, MANGROVE SNAPPER, REDS, SPANISH MACKEREL AND PERMIT

We have a stunning morning at the inlet, warm but absolutely gorgeous. Winds are blowing out of the South-Southwest at 4 mph, gusting to 5; the water is clear and has a light chop.

I want to thank everyone for sending in their photos and updates; I'll get your photos resized and on the fishing report real soon! From all the emails we received it sounds like fall fishing has arrived. Big and slot sized Snook, big Reds, lots of Tarpon from juveniles to monsters, Jacks, Ladyfish, Blue Runners, Blues, Spanish Mackerel and an occasional Permit have found their ways to our inlet anglers.
Our most recent update came from Mike Ricciardi who was on the north jetty yesterday morning. Mike reported that the Snapper bite slowed down quite a bit, but what a great run we had for several weeks! Mike reported that the water was "dark" with schools of greenies and Blue Runners and Snook were crashing the bait pods. Some nice fish came over the rails of the north jetty yesterday morning, including a 37" to the fork, Permit that was landed by Paul Danko, sweet! One slot sized Snook came over the rails early in the morning, and Mike took home three Mangrove Snapper that were landed on mojarra. Several Spanish Mackerel were landed by anglers who were free lining greenies or using gotcha lures.
Our first photo today features Tom Marsh who is from upstate NY whose family recently bought a home in Vero Beach. Tom was fishing the outgoing tide from the north side rocks when he hooked up and landed this 40"+ Red using a top water plug.

Photo two features Nam Bui of Orlando. Nam landed this real nice 39.5" C/R Snook Thursday night on the outgoing tide using a homemade chartreuse bucktail. The Snook was released unharmed right after the photo.
