Sebastian Inlet Report

05-23-14 FRIDAY: TGIF! A FEW SNOOK, REDS, JACKS ARE BEING LANDED FROM THE JETTIES, OFFSHORE ANGLERS SHOULD HAVE GOOD CONDITIONS FOR THE LONG WEEKEND.

We have a beautiful morning at the Sebastian Inlet and a great weekend forecasted. Be sure to take lots of sun screen, water and insect repellent if you head to the inlet over the long weekend. This morning winds are blowing out of the Southwest at 7 mph with gusts to 10. There is a light chop on the water. There's not a lot of activity from the jetties, but every now and then a big Snook, Red or Jack will find its way to the patient angler. Anglers fishing the river and offshore may have better luck. One of our Commissioners, Capt. Michael Rowland reported that Snook are thick around docks in the Indian River Lagoon. Catching one in the slot is the tricky part. We have until the end of the month before the season closes. Snook season is closed on the Atlantic side from June 1st - September 1st. Get out and wet a line this weekend!

Our photos today are courtesy of Ivanel Bianchi of Kissimmee who fished the north jetty. In our first photo Ivanel poses with a huge 40" C/R Snook. The beast dragged him half way down the jetty before Ivanel could land it. He was using live shrimp.

Photo two was taken the same day, this time of a big Jack Crevalle he landed on a Krocodile silver spoon. He hooked up with the Jack on the beach side. The Jack was strong and put up a short fight and Ivanel almost lost it in the pilings, but he prevailed. The Jack was 18 lbs.
