From Capt. Charlie @ Fishing Center - Ft Pierce

It's been typical summertime weather around the Treasure Coast so far this month. Beautiful sunny mornings to enjoy and lots of afternoon chances of thunderstorms. Watching the sunrise lately has been breathtaking! Expect these conditions throughout the rest of summer. It's a wonderful time of year to enjoy the fishing around the area. I love this time of year

We are finding trout in shallow water on the grass flats at first light. Top water lures will get you some good strikes by some nice size fish. Move to the edges of the flats as the sun gets higher and switch to DOA shrimp or CAL jerk baits. Docks have also been holding a nice variety of fish this week. Mangroves can hold redfish, snook and snapper under the shadow lines. There has been lots of baitfish around the area. Fish around bait schools when you see them. Lots of big fish will follow the bait schools this time of year.
Summer is a time when you must prepare for both sunshine and heat when out on the water. Sunscreen and fluids are essential this time of year. A little precaution can save a lot of pain! Enjoy the summer and have fun out there!
